The serial variety of Henry rifles are located on the highest flat on the barrel, about the left facet in the reduce tang underneath the stock, on the inventory under the higher tang, and on the inside of the buttplate. On early rifles, the tang and buttplate screws are also serial numbered. At what stage was the “Circle VP” for “Considered Proved” stamp placed on the underside on the barrel–following the heavy load testing, the “VP” staying utilized after the visual inspection in the barrel? The “VP” is observed on just about every 1892 and 1894 barrel I have witnessed from the start to the end of production, bridging the date for the appearance in the “WP”. Then why the addition of your “WP”—I admit I'm no history buff, just curious regarding the reasoning with the “WP”.
